HX updated :-) (DOSX)

HXDLL.ZIP (3 KiB)

What's new:

* AVICAP32.DLL added / updated (needed for FFMPEG and derivatives)

* AVIFIL32.DLL added / updated (needed for FFMPEG and derivatives)

* COMDLG32.DLL improved: less bloat, more features, Get****FileName* now all 4 recognized (not yet implemented), GetFileTitleA improved (now cuts off the path, even more reliably than Windaube does) (needed for MUH-PDF)

* MSVFW32.DLL minor

* PSAPI.DLL added (needed for FFMPEG)

* WLDAP32.DLL added (needed for GNASH)

* TESTDRUG.EXE added: tests GetFileTitleA and Get****FileName*

Unfortunately there are issues in file I/O (??) and GUI support so that aforementioned programs do no longer whine about missing imports or DLL's, but
still don't run well ______:-(

HX updated :-)

The DOS-extender contained in HX ( HDPMI32 and HDPMI16 ) has got an update. It improves the handling of "scattered" XMS memory blocks, quite similiar to the issue discussed in http://www.bttr-software.de/forum/forum_entry.php?id=12738.

For details also see: http://masm32.com/board/index.php?PHPSESSID=b24134b41dd5b50c1c5c0c96ef8b1e70&topic=2100.0

I hate to be indiscreet, I respect his privacy, but has anyone actually had any direct contact (email??) with Japheth since then? Not that I really blame him, and I hope everything is well, but well ... even his website seems to be down.

Nope, down again, at least for me for the past few days. I have no idea. Very frustrating.

Last email interaction I had with Japheth, he wrote he was no longer
able to update or work on HX due to changes in his real world life.
Twas some moths back already, I think I reported on this briefly.

I don't want to make assumptions, but at the time I got a bad feeling
about the unstated upcoming changes. Again I will not speculate,
and I do hope Japheth is doing fine and just got new, exciting, interests.
But t'is my inner feeling we won't be hearing from him for a long time, if ever.

HX updated (not really - M$WCRT.DLL.HELL from ROS 0.3.17)

> Well, at least his website seems to be back up and running, for now

For never again :-(

ReactorOS 0.3.17 is out 2014-Nov-05 .

Anyone dared to test
M$WCRT.DLL from it
with HX?

I did, hot results:

- there are missing imports
- if you ignore them, some files may have a chance to load, start
and print some info onto the screen
- unfortunately trying to do anything useful ends up in a crash

(see shot - after replacing DLL from ROS 0.3.17 by DLL from ME it worx)
