NDN's resources translators needed. (Announce) |
Hello all!
Maybe some of you are interested in translating NDN (Necromancer's Dos Navigator) resources into your native language? I can provide resource compiler and available resources.
Among other things, Ukrainian, Czech or German are missing. Unfortunately, this is not a job for money. I'm not forcing anyone. If you take it and want it, your name will be visible in the program.
Best regards,
CandyMan |

Are you sure? The help file itself is 10k. lines, and the resources file the same. Half of these lines are compiler commands like "MENU/DIALOG" etc. |

All you have to do is change the language in the RCP.INI files
from english to ukrain and run one of the files mkd32.bat/mkw32.bat/mkw64.bat depending on the ndn version you are using to test.
Only files in the RESOURCES directory need translation.
These are ansi files. The current versions of the program are in the BIN directory.
To change language in NDN press Alt-F12.

I forgot to replace the last parameter in the BAT file from /Q to /D to disable help file compression and make TVHC run faster.
If something cannot be translated, please leave the English version. English help files are the most complete. |

Is there any reason why ndn 3 is freeware but no source code available?
I ask this because the freedos live cds still work with version 2 because there is no source available.
Yesterday I tested chat gpt with translating to turkish and Berki Yenigün was absolutely happy with the text. The only problem is that it stops at in about 2 or 3 kb of text, so translation has to be splitted.
Does anybody know if there are problems with right of origin? |

There is no specific reason why NDN source code is not freely available. It's just that NDN has always been closed source. Maybe someday this will change, but I can't promise that for sure. |

Hehe, I think that you and me and a few cz users that can be count on a fingers of one hand can understand english enough to use NDN, it doesn't worth that effort... Even if cz translation would exist I will continue to use eng. version as I'm used to... --- DOS gives me freedom to unlimited HW access. |

Hungarian and Ukrainian languages for NDN are already prepared. All I need is help to correct potential errors. I used Google translate for this purpose. If anyone is interested, please contact me.
Below are actual resources that works with current nightly build release from ndn.muxe.com/download :
