Important! Call for better name for this forum (Miscellaneous) |
As you all probably already know, this forum will continue after 31 December 2007 now.
Therefore I'm looking for a better name than "Support forum" to reflect its importance for DOS (users).
Please post your suggestions! --- Forum admin |

How about something pun-y like "DOS, Por Favor!"? Or any of these:
* Dee Only Solution
* DOS Garden
* DOS-Hell (okay, another pun, heh)
* DOSland (or DOSujo, same thing)
* CLI H(e)aven
* Real Mode for Real Programmers (who don't eat quiche, heh)
* DOS Enthusiasts
* ObsesseDOS
* 640k Today
Okay, I dunno, feel free to pick whatever. It's not the name that means anything anyways. |

Pun is OK, but "DOS, Por Favor!" could make people think, that this is a Spanish forum.
> * Dee Only Solution
> * DOS Garden
no flowers or trees here
> * DOS-Hell (okay, another pun, heh)
pejorative
> * DOSland (or DOSujo, same thing)
could be associated with http://www.dosland.net/
> * CLI H(e)aven
Windows or Linux also have CLIs.
> * Real Mode for Real Programmers (who don't eat quiche, heh)
What about protected mode?
> * DOS Enthusiasts
Easy. Best so far besides Steve's.
> * ObsesseDOS
Erm.. Do all understand this?
> * 640k Today
DOS is not limited to 640k these days. Could misguide people.

No. The name doesn't mean all, but at least a little. --- Forum admin |

There is no background . According to what Roberto Mariottini wrote in FD-user a fiend is:
2. One who is addicted to something: a dope fiend.
3. One who is completely absorbed in or obsessed with a given job or pastime: a crossword-puzzle fiend.
4. One who is particularly adept at something: a fiend with computers. --- MS-DOS forever! |

Well you have to "sign up" to be able to post to this forum, like you have to sign up to join the army. So how about calling the forum:
the "DOS Secret Enthusiasts Regiment" forum or the DOSSER forum for short.
The we could make badges, T-shirts and bumper stickers pronouncing:
I'm a DOSSER and proud of it!

DOS Software Enthusiastic Rogues would go quite happily with being a DOSSER .
But perhaps you have to be British to get the dosser joke? |

Dosser is a slang word in the UK for a layabout, benefits scrounger, scruff. If I'm just dossing around, then I'm killing time, doing nothing in particular, being lazy. Hence the T-shirt:

Please keep "tossers" (there were many large "nice" discussions about this topic in some other forum, involved "good guys" will know which one a mean) and "dossers" (obvious similarity) out

IMO "DOS for(ever)um" is "too intellectual". Why not just "DOS Forum" or "The DOS Forum"? --- MS-DOS forever! |
