Is that a prediction or a command?
Just curious. Either way, my answer is no. |

Me either, but I guess it's good that they wrote it. I'm not a huge fan of YouTube either, but since people love it to death (and it's here to stay and could be useful, in theory), I can't complain. (I did briefly test it, but not as a plugin. Obviously still needs some work, only supports Flash7 ?? ... whatever, GNU strikes again! Hooray!). --- Know your limits.h |

@rugxulo + rr + steve: I guess at least 99.9% of DOS users don't care either, but I would really appreciate it if only the ones interested in this stuff reply in this thread. No need to increment the forum's post count by posting hot air. --- MS-DOS forever! |

If you want me to test it in pure DOS, point me to some real-world examples, and I will (DOS386? Any links?). But if the Win32 build requires MSVCRT.DLL, that makes it useless, IMO, and not (barely?) worth messing with.
I did try GNASH ("alpha" state?) in Win XP, but like I said, not as a plugin, so I dunno of an easy way to test the YouTube support with that.
P.S. Are you worried about server space or your phone bill or just annoyed at semi-useless messages like mine? Sorry, just bored / overly eager to post here, I guess. The main problem for me re: this is that the forum is slightly clunky to read with lots of messages in a thread. Plus, it won't let you edit your own posts after 12 hours, so I can't delete previous messages.
P.P.S. GNU considers reimplementing Flash via GNASH a high priority (like they did with GCJ). They don't like proprietary formats. So yes, apparently, having GNASH work is indeed a big deal for many people. --- Know your limits.h |

Yes. If someone isn't interested in a thread, it's common practice to simply ignore it. And it's becoming annoying when 100% of the responses are of this kind. Not a big issue, though, just to make you aware. --- MS-DOS forever! |

Why should he? It's me, who pays for server space.

That's true. Any ideas to improve it? I could close the forum and open a mailing list or install a NNTP server instead.

Plus you can't delete a message to which others already replied. Otherwise you would break thread concatenations. --- Forum admin |

Yes, I wondered as much but wasn't sure. I dunno why he's so sensitive. (Too many hamburgers? Heh.)

Not really, but "Order" sorting helps (as does the red arrow for new messages). Still, it can be confusing. No forum software is perfect.
GNASH-related info follows (for Japheth's eyes only)
Okay, so I'm on Vista right now, and trying to run GNASH-Win32 0.8.1 ("fourth alpha release") in DOSBox 0.72 via the latest HXRTD.ZIP needed MSVCRT.DLL (grrr), and even that didn't work (doh). So, I'm at a loss to how useful it could be (unless someone wants to recompile statically ... be my guest).
Of course, the real problem (besides too many useless posts, oops) is that Flash is proprietary (like many things ), so GNU has quite a ways to go to match it. I honestly don't see the appeal, why would anyone even want to use it?
I tried finding examples to test, but it seems some people don't want you to download 'em directly (ahem, Adobe? No save option??). You can get around that, but I chose to focus on publicly available examples. Anyways, I ended up having to View Source in the web browser, copy / paste the .SWF file's URL, then wget it and then manually run fltk-gnash.exe on it (usually unsuccessfully, the compatibility ain't too great right now, even most of the Win32 menu options don't really work).

http://www.macloo.com/examples/flash/animation/martini.htm
These four examples seem to work fine in GNASH. To be more convenient, I've .ZIP'd 'em up for download here (46k) so you don't have to waste time doing the above-mentioned workaround just to get a decent example or two. So, if you get GNASH running (after recompile?) in pure DOS, try these, they should work. But don't expect all the latest / greatest Flash 9 crud to work too because it won't.
P.S. GNASH-0.8.1-WIN32-AGG-FLTK-FFMPEG.ZIP (binaries only, no srcs) is 7,676,886 bytes! (Dialup users beware!) --- Know your limits.h |

Thanks a lot for this info! However, it's DOS386 who is/was interested in GNASH. Since you three have driven him away with your bad responses, I just wanted to make you feel bad because of that. --- MS-DOS forever! |

I feel horrible. I was hoping he would answer my question about whether he was predicting or ordering the testing of GNASH. |

FYI, I've been away from this forum for 50 days because I was torturing Steve a bit ... because he can't live without making stupid comments about all my posts
rr wrote:

Yeah It took over 400 posts before you criticized him the 1st time ... while you very frequently criticize my posts for obviously no valid reason ... or repeat his "smart hints" or he repeats yours, see above ^^^
or the "C++ -argument" Seems Steve is (or used to be ?) your pet unlike me
GNASH 0.8.2 is out but you don't need it, nor Steve does ... Vi$ta64 with IE9 with Original Adobe Flash Prayer rocks ... enjoy
BTW, GNASH 0.8.2 works "well" in Windaube but not with HX ... but no need to push anything, we have JAWASM under progress --- This is a LOGITECH mouse driver, but some software expect here

Oops ... forgot to tell why it should be considered as useful ... seems not as obvious as I had expected
It's not really for Loo-Tube (maybe on Loo-Nix ?), but for playing SWF files, I uploaded 2 funny (?) ones:

BTW, for Loo-Tube / FLV on DOS there are FLVRETRIEVER, MPLAYER, FFMPEG2THEORA, etc. --- This is a LOGITECH mouse driver, but some software expect here
