FreeDOS 1.3 RC5 (Users)

How do you install FreeDOS 1.3 RC5 onto a Pentium 1 machine since some files keep giving errors during install if anyone knows?

the error is something about C: dos area protection violation attempted.

Is the error given during unzipping or when formatting the C: drive?

Can you post a screenshot?

Are you booting from a USB drive or CD-ROM drive? Which command are you running? I don't see that error message in the FDI (FreeDOS Installer) git repo. You can also try asking on freedos-user@lists.sourceforge.net once you've registered.

i used the installer that says install to hard disk. since there is 4 options on how to install it from the live cd since the pc i am using dose not have usb installation capabilities since it's from the time of win 98/me. i would have it on my tv but that dose not support VGA. the board is an emachines board for there line of Pentium computers since that was the only thing that could fit an SB16 with the attached wave blaster.

Edit: sent them a message.

Hmm, maybe bootsector write protection enabled in the bios? This was a bios based antivirus measure in later PCs (say win9x generation)
