MS-DOS Driver for Flat Panel Monitor? (Users) |
Hi! As some of you may recall, I'm an old guy who still runs MS-DOS 6.21 on old hand-me-down computers.
Over the last couple of years I've received some hand-me-down flat panel monitors and now have three(!) of them.
I'm wondering if it's possible to use one of these flat panel monitors with my old 486 PC running MS-DOS 6.21. --- Will in Seattle

No drivers are needed.
Just plug it in and use it. --- --

Thanks, glennmcc! That's great news.
The monitor I was thinking of using with the old 486 has an odd connector plug on the end of the cable.
But after reading your post I examined the back of the monitor and discovered that there was a second connector that a VGA cable will fit into. So I'm ready to give this a try.
(Well, I'll be ready to give it a try tomorrow. I tire easily and it's already past seven in the evening, so I'm heading to bed now).
Thanks again for that encouraging info! --- Will in Seattle

For best image quality is good to use graphics card with DVI-D (e.g. some GeForce 4 or newer) out and monitor with DVI-D input but VGA is also usable... --- DOS gives me freedom to unlimited HW access. |
