time for a new Lynx for Dos binary. (Developers)

Hope this is not too messy, using links for dos, which has no editor..although I doubt all the nifities came with the file I downloaded. still, I am wondering given all the steady develepment why there is not a more recent package of the Lynx browser for dos? I came across doug's effort, from 2004, but nothing more recent..and Lynx was last updated 3 months ago. PerhapsI am missing a door?

Lynx is maybe a littl bit obsolete but it still works welly well with HTTPS/SSL certified sites.

Guessing that you have not googled lynx in a while if you think it has ben abandoned.
its own wikipedia page states that its last preview update wis in 02/20. Besides, I feel sure you have never used Links in graphics mode with a screen reader, or ou might realize the counter productive nature of that advice.
since you think it is workable though, how are you accessing google's mail reader when it claims links, even with Javascript, is not javascr***?

Links2 has two versions: the normal full version and the lite version. The latter lacks graphics and HTTPS/SSL support. The former can still work in textmode without graphics.

Lynx is (unofficially?) built via DJGPP and mirrored by them under /current/v2tk/ subdir.

See the March 24th announcement on news://comp.os.msdos.djgpp : "ANNOUNCE: DJGPP port of Lynx 2.9.0dev.5 uploaded".

Lynx is far from obselete. I can name one critical, one of many critical things I can do in lynx that I cannot do in the graphics edition of links for dos. The latter does not save cookies the way lynx does, and having spent the past two days unable to reach sites in graphical mode links for this reason, I am wondering if it is Links that is more outdated..but that is me.

This makes it sound like you misunderstood my message (or haven't had time to try it yet??). The direct link to Juan's latest DJGPP (DOS) compile of Lynx is here: http://na.mirror.garr.it/mirrors/djgpp/current/v2tk/lx290d5b.zip .
