Octasm version 0.161 available (Announce)

Nice DOS assembler (with simplified syntax) ported again from OctaOS. It supports up through SSE3, 3dNow!, etc. It outputs flat binary and debug .SYM files (for rudimentary debugging, incremental compilation, runtime overlays). You can run 32-bit instructions directly from the cmdline via assembling to memory. This version requires a 486DX and DPMI, but it now works in DOSBox, too.

Octasm version 0.161 available

Don't get me wrong, but please keep my announce format. :-)

That currently is subject = `{Product} version {number} available', some description, and finally `Website: {url}'. Some release date would be nice too, but isn't required at all.

EDIT: And don't forget the author's name! Oops! ;-)

Thanks! :-)

The download package filename has 165, but the COM and doc files say it's v0.162. All files are dated 2007-05-02. Do you know what the real deal is?

Aesthetic issues, it's still the newest version. (I compared OCTASM.TXT from 0.161 and this one, it indeed added some minor stuff.)

He probably versioned it wrong on accident, just trying to say "improved 0.161". And I can only guess that he touched all the files or maybe his cpu clock is outdated (busted CMOS battery perhaps?).

@ Rugxulo

OctaOS version 0.208 available

OctaOS 0.208 was released by Octavio Vega Fernandez on 10 August 2007.

New:
* support for German keyboard
* updated FASM version

P.S. OctaOS can load from FAT12 (floppy), FAT16 (using LOAD.COM), install to FAT16 (w/ or w/o its own boot sector, and you can "boot prev OS", aka DOS, to reboot and load DOS), or FAT32 (but no NTFS support).

See FASM thread about OctaOS w/ tips here.
