DOS ain't dead

Hi,

Does it exist some print daemon for DOS, which can listen on LPT for almost ever DOS applications and works with NET or USB printer?

Almost every DOS application can print into a file ... no need for a demon

Yes,but you cannot connect USB or NET printer to DOS

You want to redirect the output in plain DOS or you want to redirect the output of a DOS program? For the first case I don't know any solution, for the second there are.

IIRC there was someone (at the FreeDOS mailing list?) who had a similar question ..... Printing to a network printer....

I don't know if his intention is to print to a shared printer (Edit: or to a network-printer). He didn't say a word about such a situation.

A "NET" printer is a shared printer!

Btw: Most (cheap) USB printers are dumb, because all intelligence is already in their Windows driver. To make these printers work in DOS, one would have to develop a completely new driver using DosUSB. Good luck!

Most USB printers are cheap, and they are built considering to be dependent on OS software.

Maybe Daved has on mind printing from DOS application but under Windows.
In such case it can be easily solved by various redirectors like this one:
http://www.dos2usb.com/

You can ... DOS has NET and USB drivers ... but somewhat experimental

Yes I want to redirect output from DOS program as PostScript to network
printer and I want to know whether resident DOS network printing tool
exists. I see Datalight socket network printer, which listen on IP address
and defined port, but send data to standard LPT, but I want send data to
network printer.
