LPAQ6 for DOS (Announce)

Since the standard distribution of LPAQ only comes w/ Win32 binaries and C++ source, I've compiled it myself for DOS. LPAQ is a "lite PAQ" compressor (not archiver) that uses much less memory (minimum 9 MB) and time than the standard PAQ compressors/archivers. (Older versions, e.g. LPAQ1v2 only needed 6 MB min. but compressed slightly worse.)

Website: http://www.cs.fit.edu/~mmahoney/compression/#lpaq

Download: http://rugxulo.googlepages.com/lpaq6dos.zip (190k)

Changes: "includes a E8E9 filter for better compression of x86 executables."

This download includes three DOS .EXEs for various purposes (DJGPP "fast", OpenWatcom: HX "dual", D3X "tiny") plus the original .ZIP package (two Win32 .EXEs, GPL'd .CPP source, and README.TXT). Feel free to recompile at will, benchmark, whatever, and post your results here. :-)

P.S. Thanks to Steve for his interest. ;-)
