AFAIK "Fixed bug in _nmalloc() where allocations larger than 0x8000 failed." is related to my previous bug report. So we are talking about dm\lib\sds.lib, which is only part of cd850.zip.

In result of my mail Walter Bright released dm850dos.zip. :-) Maybe it's time to check _nmalloc() for other than the small memory model. :-D

Is this an add-on, or a replacement, for dm833dos.zip?

Never mind the question. It's a replacement. The download page has this link:
"http://ftp.digitalmars.com/Digital_Mars_C++/Patch/dm850dos.zip" title="download dm833dos.zip"

The title parameter wasn't revised, so the visible balloon disguised what it really is, and where. File now downloaded and inspected, no doubt about contents.
