The best DOSBOX build? (Users) |
Hi,
I was using the CVS DOSBOX build from
http://ykhwong.x-y.net/cvs/frame.html
which had many aditional features but the latest version was 0.72 and now I see the site completly disappeared. Which build do you reccomend instead? --- DOS gives me freedom to unlimited HW access. |

Dunno, was that the NE2000-enabled one? Personally I just use the "stock" build of 0.73, but a quick search shows various links, including the official forum which has some (presumably still working) other links too. |

Yes I found this and went through links but other builds are not so rich featured an all are obsolete (newest from 2009) to current version 0.74
I liked e.g. pull down menus and various enhanced scalers and glide support of the build I mentioned in link above but it ended by version 0.72...
Why this nice features are still missing in official build? Platform dependancy?
EDIT1:
BTW here I can see he released ver 0.73 before shutdown
http://snesorama.us/board/archive/index.php/t-55714.html
anybody has a copy?
EDIT2:
Thankfully there's a mirror
http://dl.emu-land.net/files/x86/DosBoxcvs.zip
(some extra DLLs missing but could be used from older release) --- DOS gives me freedom to unlimited HW access. |

Oops, yes, 0.74 is what I meant I use. (Time flies ... now if only there was a static Linux build for download, ugh.)

I don't know, they're weird. Try asking in IRC in #dosbox on Freenode, maybe they'll tell you. --- Know your limits.h |

The official DOSBox site is showing that 0.74 is current.
Personally I use the builds from HAL9000, a developer on the team. The HAL9000 builds include NE2000 emulation, which I need for my DOS TCP/IP project.

Look for 'MegaBuild 5'
The only problem that I have with DOSBox in general is that it doesn't support Break key handling - if you hit Ctrl-Break it just gets ignored. It's one of the few things that they are not emulating. --- mTCP - TCP/IP apps for vintage DOS machines!
