No. My hdedit and other hd tool run fine.

I created the first partition with linux fdisk.

No, this error is real. I created 2 partitions on an 64 GB USB stick, the first a FAT16 with 2 GB, the second a FAT32 with 62 GB, and, after having written almost 2 GB to FAT16, the second drive showed garbage ( and "disappeared" after reboot ).

Also, Linux fdisk does detect those overlapping partitions and warns.
