I'm very sorry for the long delay in responding -- lots going on,,,

I tried all 5 of the new test versions from a COLD BOOT, ie the first program run after booting clean was your MTRRLFBE. These are the results on my i7 system:

TEST1 and TEST2 immediately freeze the system, in both UC and WC modes in lfb.
TEST3 does not freeze in WC or UC modes in lfb. Still all memory > 2gb is uncached.
TEST4 and TEST5 do not freeze system in either WC or UC. In WC mode in lfb, there is no speedup effect in running test4 or test5 MTRRLFBE. Both test4 and 5 leave all memory > 2gb in cached state, but I get no speedup of lfb in either one.

Now, if I run test3 first (in either UC or WC) and THEN immediately run test1, it does NOT freeze. I can set either mode successfully, and there is lfb speedup. Also, the identical thing is true if I run TEST2 after test3. All memory > 2gb is in UNCACHED state.

PS: Newest version of Mplayer.exe runs perfectly on my i7 and C2D systems, with sound. And, vo vesa:nodga works perfectly now as well (video is displayed, no more black screen!). Thanks very much!
