Yes, apparently via 2 routes:

1) Directly on Intel IA-32 boxes (or emulated IA-32!) via its VDM called "winevdm"

2) DOSBox integration since v1.3.12, however according to links found via Wikipedia this has apparently caused problems with old pre Win3.0 apps being redirected to DOSBox instead of being handled by Wine.

I stumbled across the DOS support after installing Wine on this box for testing a new version of RJDOS (which I wanted to have run under Wine anyway). After install Wine I then noted the "Win Command Line" option. I thought hmmm I don't remember that last time I briely looked at Wine.... so I after running it and getting a prompt I just thought I wonder what happens if I attempt to run RJDOS... tried and was shocked when it just loaded.

So far I tried very limited tests with DOS programs under Wine's cmd shell however I found that many DOS apps launched that way, crash, drop out etc.

However FLIWriter was however an exception in that it was the first complex DOS app I have seen load, go full screen, mostly work and then exit cleanly. So when I said I was surprised in this thread I really was!! I guess more testing/RTFM is needed to understand Wine's DOS support better.
