In terms of hardware it is worth noting keyboard barcode scanners, e.g. wedge scanners. For example I have a 2 * RS232 to keyboard converters (as well as a few barcode scanners) which are useful for taking the RS232 input from one PC and stuffing it into the input of another PC. Can't remember if I mentioned them on this forum but Keelog have also released several "open source" hardware keyboard loggers, e.g. http://www.keelog.com/diy.html along with various technical information on keyboards which they have collected.

Interesting in the sense that often it is natural to think in terms of software for a solution when there is also some interesting hardware available as well.
