The Crawl-Ref developers have released Dungeon Crawl: Stone Soup 0.5.2 on 10 October 2009.

P.S. Sometimes they are slow at releasing DOS builds, so I ended up building this one for them (and previous, which is most likely why the archive's main dir is mistakenly still ss051dos/) with G++ 4.2.3 and DJGPP 2.04. Hence why it says "We now have a DOS build of 0.5.2, courtesy of Rugxulo of BTTR Software." :-D

BAD NEWS!

Well, DOS support in Dungeon Crawl: Stone Soup is officially dead. :-( The developers don't care about it anymore at all, and apparently they can't be bothered to try building or even do simple fixes. (Note that I've never been part of the development team and don't grok C++, but they knew I was heavily interested in the DOS port.)

In particular, 0.5.2 had a bug where it didn't cost mana for spells (or whatever, I always play Minotaur Berserker for Trog, who forbids magic).

GOOD NEWS!

I did (with a few very minor tweaks) get 0.6.0 to compile with DJGPP 2.04 (G++ 4.2.3), and it seems to work (80x50 only). Not sure if they will host this build, but I've already informed them in IRC at ##crawl-dev (Freenode.net). E-mail me if you want the .EXE (also needs data files from Win32 console version).

Oh well, another one bites the dust (for no good reason). :-(

I've had no offers to mirror this, and I'm low on space on my Google site. (Seems weird that I might have to create another home page on 110mb.com, heh.) Anyways, Rapidshare only gives 10 downloads, but if there's still a slot left, one of you can download it (if interested):
