Really serious of technical issue? (Miscellaneous)

Sorry but I saw most of the discussion not necessary.

Some guys always insist UPX not safe, then you can unpack it, delete UPX from your hard disk and feeling happy.

If you think UIDE/XMGR have problem after packing, don't use it and delete it from your hard disk, why waste time typing long long message for something you know in 5 seconds, just boot it and you know the result.

Well ... I guess those are too lonely and want to start a fight with other, why didn't you just find your neighbor?

When everyone have no UIDE to use, those guys are happy?
It's too simple for a 6 years old child to judge who's bad guys, hope this forum will index in Internet archive forever.

It's much more difficult, not in the last place since your neighbour knows you, unlike here, where they do everything possible to remain anonymous (their top concern!), and so they can do anything here without any responsibility. It's much easier.

> When everyone have no UIDE to use, those guys are happy?

I suspect that this was their real goal, although they try to refute me.

Yes, so everybody can judge for themselves who is who. It's so obvious, indeed.

I like this packer, but I have never seen DOS SYS drivers packed with this packer before drivers of Jack... His drivers are small enough (moreover, tiny) even without UPX, which is very actual for "heavy" DJGPP executables or WIN32 PE files.

If I see such a problem, I'll simply assemble non-packed version from ASM sources (MASM 5.10 or Pravetz-16 386 ASM from Lucho).

> When everyone have no UIDE to use, those guys are happy?
I see that you have removed drivers.zip from your site. That's a pity :( - those forum flamewars aren't really important. E.g. MS Windows is often called "must die" or "crap" but Bill Gates releases it year to year...

P.S. I perfectly understand that modern DOS is made of hacks itself, and UPX in SYS file isn't the most dangerous :).

Heh, the latest Dungeon Crawl ("Tiles" version) .EXE for Win32 is over 30 MB (and not UPX'd either, only ZIP'd). :rotfl:

Don't forget that WASM from OpenWatcom works too (thanks to japheth for telling us).

Yeah, very confusing. I mean, I don't see any possibility (or harm, in theory) of anybody associating rr with JRE. But whatever. (Does this mean Lucho and I can't share the drivers on our distros? Granted, Lucho is more of an "ally" than some random guy like me, but still ....)

> P.S. I perfectly understand that modern DOS is made of hacks itself, and

NANSI is also UPX'd, and Eric gave a similar warning about crashing if not enough room was available. But so far, I've had no issues (just let it load normally from FDCONFIG.SYS). And yes, I must be one of the few who still want to save 1k from their floppy. ;-)

No Diskette Issues.

Not a problem, my friend, if you wish to include XMGR and/or UIDE on your
diskettes. If you need a separate, "covering" E-Mail, please contact me
at my personal E-Mail address, and I will reply directly to you.

I regret that, after three direct requests for the "links" to my drivers
to be deleted from this website, nothing was done, and thus the only way
for me to deal with the "situation" was for the files to be deleted from
Johnson's website. This is NO reflection on you, Johnson, nor Lucho.

Forums are for discussing.

It was about calmly, rationally discussing whether or not to compress it in the first place, since compression is totally unnecessary for all but a handful of people who could easily compress it themselves, not about starting a fight.

Unfortunately, the thread starter was incapable of calm, rational discussion.

Forum is short for "Discussion Forum." Does this make sense now?

sol, what I dislike most in you is your fantastic hypocrisy. Are you really interested in Jack's work? If not, why do you have the need to comment?

OTOH, as you are ashamed of your own name, that means that you had done "bad things". The best for you is to finally confess, and ease your soul. You can do it on this board and discover with this occasion which is the meaning of this "DOS" board.

Greetings!

Greetings, Herr GeneralOberst! Along with Lucho, I was so busy running a
Blitzkrieg against two of your Sturmtroopers that I hadn't noticed you are
back, today!

In fact, Herr G.O., English is a simple language, when it is not burdened
with innuendo, double-meanings, guile, and other complex items.

Re: how you can redefine "leaving", you might try doing this in terms of
"Unlimited DEFENSE whenever NECESSARY", or maybe in terms of "Keepen Zie
Foul MOUTHEN SHUT"!!

I believe those two redefinitions should do what you want rather nicely,
Herr GeneralOberst! Might save Khusraw, Lucho, and me running any more
Blitzkriegs, as well. Do "instruct" your good friends, Herr Oberst and
"Little Stevie" [18-month-olds may not be Obersturmfuehrers!], about all
this, as well!

English language

> English is a simple language, when it is not burdened

Of course it's simple for you: English is your native language. My first language is Russian and I think English has some hard things,e.g.
1) Difficult sounds in pronounsing (th, ng, qu); complicated spelling
2) It is hard to understand the meaning of "a" and "the"
3) Complicated grammatic of verbs (of course, Russian grammatic is even more difficult).
Of course, Russian language has much more difficulties: unusual alphabet, genders and cases of nouns, absense of fixed order in sentences...

English language

For your info, Alexey, Grech was "joking" about English, and my reply
was an equivalent "joke" against HIM in return. Stay out of this.

Right, simple - at your level of comprehension.

And obviously German is too complex for you. Using pig-German makes you the pig, not Japheth or any of his countrymen.

It's so sad, your being forced to launch a war against the evil ones who don't submit to your greatness.

Right Back Atcha, My Boy!

> Right, simple

English can be simple can be complex. Right now, I'll follow the K.I.S.S.
Principle, "Little Stevie", since you are back in my classroom again!

> German is too complex

Not hardly, "Little Stevie"! It was simplified in the 1800s, as I recall,
and though I never had time to learn it, it and Dutch are close to English,
and one who speaks English CAN make himself "understood" in German, when it
is necessary. I have no trouble doing so, all the time! Another of your
subjects for about 15 years from now!

> A war against the evil ones

Many such wars in our history, "Little Stevie"! History is something you
can begin learning in only about 8 years!

You recall the 1800s? Fabulous!

Sure, it's easy - many Germans know English.

The latter are much worse, of course. But what about calumny? Do you know how the Bulgarian khan Krum had punished slanderers?

No, you don't know me, but don't worry, we won't punish you like that :-D
If you have conscience, let it do the job. If not, we'll have to think a bit...
