Protected mode after restart computer (Miscellaneous)

After starting the 64-bit operating system (Windows | Linux) and then resetting (restart) the computer but not disconnecting it from the power supply, some programs in protected mode in DOS do not work.

Does 64-bit OS change anything in CPU settings that UEFI/BIOS doesn't restore?

Protected mode after restart computer

I have no such issues after restarting from Win7-x64 but I have a problem when I load UMBPCI.SYS and then restart via CTRL+ALT+DEL, even when it should go through BIOS init (not a quick boot) it just hangs at black screen and I have to press the reset button. In some rare cases when playing with system I get to state when even reset button was not working and I need to apply power cycle. So this bugs happens, don't expect that reset on modern PC works the same on modern PC like you was used to on some old 386...
