Looking for computer graphics artist (Developers)

For my QEMU build I also want to include an application icon. I've already found a very nice one, but its format is "true color + alpha channel", which is only supported an Windows XP or later. I fiddled around with it, but as I'm a perfectionist, I'm not very satisfied with my results.

Does somebody know a computer graphics artist to tweak this icon for me?

What do you need? Just a color reduction to 256 colors? What should be output? An ICO file? I can try it in PSP, if you send it to me.

No. Such can be done automatically in every good software. The big problem is transparency, i.e., some pixels are to bright for a dark desktop because of anti-aliasing with a white background.

Yes, a combined 16x16x8bpp and 32x32x8bpp ICO file for Windows 9x and later would be nice.

I also use PSP(7). :-P

Maybe I've found a solution now.

I hope you've found the best solution. I'm sorry I lost this, as sometimes in the past I even worked as a computer graphics artist (not that I would have asked you for money... :-)).

Unfortunately my solution didn't work as expected. I also asked another guy to help me, but his results weren't better than mine. So if you're still interested... I really want to get this QEMU build out.

Please send me the icon by E-Mail together with a clear description of your needs. I promise nothing, but if I'll find some spare time at the end of this week I will take a look to see what I can do.

Aha. This is a problem that must be tweaked manually. Normally if you use antialiasing you must take in mind the background color if it would be white or black to properly fade pixels on edges. It maybe also soved, as you said, with extra alpha channel for transparency which make soft edges to backgroud. But I didn't even know that ICO (in win9x) support aplha channel. AFAIK it is possible e.g. in PNG, TGA or TIFF files but not paletted 8bpp icons but I'm not an icon expert.
