You mean Ctrl-F4? It doesn't work on Windows, seems it can't find the assembler (even when in same directory). I've honestly never used the "assemble" feature in BIEW ever (although I've used it several times in HIEW).
Even the Win32 version of BIEW has been known to be buggy, in my experience (even moreso than the DOS version, i.e. Win32 version crashes more often on Win32, hence I usually use the DJGPP one!), even for simple stuff.
The main usefulness of BIEW (to me) is disasm and hex edit. Of course, it does much more.
