Apparently I was thinking of mkimg (first appeared in FreeBSD 10.1, from Nov. 2014).

As an aside, most newer cpus (2015+ ??) seems to have VT-X nowadays, thankfully. Even this Dell Chromebook has it ("Linux (beta)" Debian x64 container via KVM), but my old 2010 Dell laptop doesn't (while my 2011 Lenovo desktop has it). It helps a ton, obviously. Apparently VBox 6.1 series forcibly requires it (but 6.0 series is still supported until July 2020). Even 6.0 drops 32-bit host support!
