FreeDOS on SBC188 (Announce)

What about MetaDOS? I rebuilt the kernel (2041, slightly patched) atop itself (OpenWatcom, NASM, UPX), and it should be 8086-friendly (even if many other tools aren't).

SYS.COM is what installs your boot sector. Maybe try the latest one (from 2042 kernel)? Or try 2041? There shouldn't be any problems.

Also, my old BARE_DOS from 2008 was (mostly) 8086-friendly and works under 8086tiny.

Joris (for his Retro emulator) also had some 8086 floppy images. Similarly, Balder was meant to be an unofficial replacement to ODIN (one-disk installer).
