Compilation speed with GCC (Developers)

I've heard both "noatime" and "relatime" can help, but it seems to matter more what filesystem is in use (since Linux supports so many). However, that's something no one seems to agree upon (ext2? XFS? JFS? Reiser??). See here.

P.S. I forgot to mention earlier, -pipe supposedly speeds GCC up a lot too (although not support on DOS).
