How many different calls, thousands, hundreds? I assure you that for someone having Linux programming knowledge it is a trivial task, personally I am stranger to Linux, but those which I understand I could easily emulate in my various projects.

I don't think that SB16 emulation is particularly special on Intel HDA, it is a general problem of port trapping, the approach being dependent on system state(real mode or protected mode).
