actually, GPT isn't even hard; is pretty straightforward.

the title of this thread is DOS specifications ("standards").

you personally on your own machine may use whatever method you think is good or easy to implement. unfortunately, you also have to implement your version of
boot loader, operating system kernel, FDISK, disk repair tools, create a Wikipedia entry describing your standard, and more.

lastly: convince others to use your new 'standard' as well. probably by far harder than programming all needed tools ;-)
