OK, I have made a tiny bit of progress in getting legacy code to run natively on x86-64 UEFI.

My bootloader can (sort of) now run an unmodified kernel from MIT's Xv6 teaching operating system, which originally had to be started from a legacy BIOS.

There is still much more to be done, of course.
