Okay well whatever revision of the file you have, in the repo that's https://github.com/davidebreso/mkeyb/blob/518d24d578dcb094b7f74800cd982bb4e4b7178b/mkeyb.c#L92

And yes, this does modify a DOS internal structure - it assumes the MCB format and how to make an MCB self-owned. This is not the same for all DOS systems but MS-DOS compatibles like (E)DR-DOS and FreeDOS do often use the same structures. My TSRs also assume that the MCB structure is compatible.
