You were correct; Quoting RFC2616: HTTP/1.1 defines the sequence CR LF as the end-of-line marker for all protocol elements except the entity-body

Indeed and the more platforms, OS's you've worked with/used the harder it is to remember what rule goes where at times particularly if you become detached from a particular technology. I've found that myself getting back into DOS.

wget is excellent when you just want to download a file. curl can be a bit more annoying in that regards at times (depends on the version etc).

And that is where cURL is excellent for cookie management, form POSTing etc.

Your loss :-) at least try it; There is a 2006 DOS port of v7.10.5 by Doug Kaufman available on his site.

Hopefully that will help you but to be honest I wouldn't count on it either.

I can understand hence I've decide a while back to take a long term approach to some of my software preservation projects. Long term as in "decades".
