Yeah, like Linux Mint (although they are apparently based upon Ubuntu, who's already mostly phased it out, so no huge surprise there).

Many distros (and other software) have done the same in recent years.

Someone actually brought up the idea of requiring AVX2 as minimum, which didn't go over well. That doesn't mean requirements won't change, but it probably won't be that (yet). Especially since, apparently, Intel still doesn't include AVX on anything low-end (Celeron or Pentium), only Xeon and similar.

Apparently, GCC's FMV (function multi-versioning) was improved in GCC 6 (vs. 4.8). Haven't tried it, somewhat doubt it works fully with DJGPP, but who knows.
