Ciriaco de Celis was UIAM the originator of the AMIS; he also designed several schemes and DOS drivers for filling floppies (up to 2 Megabytes on a regular 1.44HD diskette with his, unusable in practice, 2MGUI).

You know, this is going to be free/libre and I won't take offence if you make it better (or different). I gave the reasons why I won't change the loader/unloader in this round, except minimally and trivially. Besides, it is
doing very good (at least on MSDOS. We're back to your/my above statement/question. I guess you used FreeDOS ?)
