I'm only interested in C90 plus MSDOS-like
extensions replacing Posix crap, not BASIC.

I have made an opening offer for an MSDOS-like
API to replace Posix, at least for small systems
like the 8086 that have no virtual memory so can't
do Unix nonsense like fork().
