Note that straying outside of C90 brings a requirement
of making directories under MSDOS. Which is tied to a
FAT filesystem with particular characteristics.

When moving to Linux ARM or any other machine, I fully
expect a FAT file system to exist if the MSDOS program
is to behave correctly.

So is there a problem making the API to make a directory
consistent for (any high level language) so that it can
be ported to (ARM-anything with FAT)?

Wasn't the API already fairly consistent, set by
Microsoft C and their dos.h or io.h (which I never
used - so I'm asking now if they are appropriate,
and if not, why not)?

BFN. Paul.
