VSyncMame project is dead, but the latest (and perhaps last?) AdvanceMame, which also uses wss, dates from 2009. But why would matter the fact that the code is abandoned? wss looks so complicated to you? Anyway, the bug (which is corrected now) seems to have no influence on how the sound plays. wss can be easily upgraded to support other sound cards, I just haven't got time until now to add support for new ones, but at first I would rather add support for those which I can test (e.g. HDA).
