Well, I don't read that there. I was actually using unix at that time, and it was before extenders were available, and before the avg PC user had a 386 (there were only some in research institutes, typically not running dos) No wonder that they thought it was impossible.

They said similar stuff about Linux, and FreeBSD was considered even more evil since it was free.

So? They probably didn't plan a port to 64-bit windows either. Or to linux, since it didn't exist at that time.

I'm actually not that fond about the GPL.
